The acclaimed Spanish flamenco guitarist Paco Lara will tour NSW and the rest of Australia with DUENDE, the recently released, self-produced album of original compositions. Paco’s performances always inspire and capture the imagination of Australian audiences. This show presents a stunning live performance of flamenco guitar with a fusion of music, song, and flamenco dance, performed by Lara and his talented ensemble. Flamenco was recognised internationally in 2010 as an Intangible Heritage for Humanity by UNESCO demonstrating that this artform inspires people across the world. DUENDEbrings a unique international collaboration between Spanish and Australian musicians and shows the most emotional compositions of Paco.
Paco Lara has toured internationally alongside some of the greatest artists and maestro legends of flamenco in Spain. In 2017 he migrated to Australia from Jerez, the heartland of flamenco in Spain. His style (halfway between traditional and contemporary flamenco) contributes to the increased popularity and understanding of this musical genre in Australia. This has proven especially true in NSW where the artist resides. Lara has enjoyed considerable success since the 2021 tour of the Australian Guitar Tour to the Sydney Opera House and Adelaide Guitar Festival. 2021 also marked the first tour of The Andalusian Guitar which has toured nationally with a constant succession of shows around the country since then. In 2022 Lara commenced touring DUENDE (the show) with the official album of the same name launched in early 2023. The tour of the album launched in September in Newtown with a final performance scheduled in Newcastle on the 1st of December. A special show will be held in Sydney at Ara Quarter Theatre, Darling Harbour on the 18th of November.
DUENDE promises to be an entertaining and popular show with Lara’s flamenco guitar mastery showcasing his talent at the top of the Australian contemporary music and performance scene. He will share this passion through his mesmerising masterful skills and techniques on the flamenco guitar and ‘with impressive and elegant articulation’. DUENDE transports audiences to Southern Spain with the virtuoso guitarist accompanied by a multicultural and dynamic ensemble. Performers include guest flamenco dancers Sebastián Sánchez, Deya Miranda Giner and Lauren Majarrés, Angela Rosero(vocalist) and Byron Mark (percussionist, and pianist).
With a record of packed-out concerts at the Sydney Opera House in 2021, this new upcoming tour in regional NSW and Australia will continue to transport fans to new heights of musical sensations through the energy Flamenco draws in Australian audiences’ spirits and hearts. DUENDE is distributed on all digital platforms by the record label Pelayo Productions, one of the most important record companies in Spain that promote flamenco music.
