Valiant Stride Releases Hammer To The Wall

Sydney-based rock band Valiant Stride will release Hammer To The Wall from their album Righteous Street on Friday 19 July. Hammer To The Wall, written by lead guitarist Frank Tesoriero was inspired by an argument between neighbours over a fence crossing boundaries. For one night on August 4th, the band will present a special live performance showcasing songs from the album Righteous Street which will be released in full later in the year at the Bridge Hotel in Rozelle.
Songs from the album have been inspired by Frank’s surroundings and a desire to encapsulate those diverse experiences and emotions. This simple idea has evolved into a diverse genre-blending concept of an imaginary street. This concept can be seen in Hammer To The Wall which features lyrics such as “My neighbour’s mutt went and dug up my lawn, I’ll tell you now this truly is the last straw, I’ll put the hammer to the wall”. Righteous Street is not just an album; it’s a journey through the heart of different life stories, much like a stroll down a vibrant street filled with surprises. The band’s music invokes moments of Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Dire Straits, Deep Purple with an old-school rock and roll feel. It’s hard not to be reminded of classic Aussie Rock bands such as the Painters & Dockers, Jet and The Screaming Jets.
Valiant Stride was founded in mid-2022 by lead guitarist Frank Tesoriero with songs penned by Tesoriero and lead singer Matt Steele. The band features the talents of JJ Jenkins, an American vocalist, who lent his voice to Frank’s evocative compositions. JJ breathed life into the lyrics, turning them from ink on paper to a musical reality. In 2023, Matt Steele joined the band as the second lead vocalist, further enriching the album’s narrative and musical depth. The collaborative effort extends beyond this, as Frank brought in a team of exceptionally talented musicians to complete the musical canvas. The band includes Nick Kharitou on keys, Malcolm Wardrop on drums, and Brendan Kleem on bass, each playing an integral role in shaping the album’s distinctive sound. In addition to the core collaborators, other notable contributors include Vanessa Merryweather (backing vocals), Deborah Monds (backing vocals), Nic Whitworth (keys), Milos Delic (drums), Matt Fry (bass), and Manuel Trabucco (saxophone).
The band will play a special live performance at Bridge Hotel in Rozelle on August 4th. The gig will showcase songs from the upcoming album Righteous Street. Valiant Stride will perform Hammer to the Wall and will be like a blast from the past bringing old school vibes. Valiant Stride are proof rock and roll is not dead! Opening on the night will be alternative Sydney rock band Honey Fuzz who will support as special guest. Valiant Stride will perform as part of Lidstock Festival at Lidcombe Bowling Club on August 17th.
The 9th year of Lidstock – Lidstock is a festival dedicated to supporting original Australian artists. Running for the 9th year the festival is run by Gregory Reeves, who brings together 5 original artists each year to perform.
